Just one step away from the hotel building you will find fine golf facilities for the most experienced golfers or for beginners. Three golf courses surround the hotel: Sir Henry Cotton Championship, Resort and Academy course.
The Sir Henry Cotton Championship course was the first golf course to be built in the Algarve.
This famous golf course has already hosted prestigious events such as the Daily Telegraph Seniors’ Match Play event (2000/1), the National Finals of the Audi Corp., together with major international and charity competitions such as the Sir Henry Cooper Charity Classic and the Portuguese Open (10 times) – last times 1998/99/2000, 2004 and 2006.
The property also encompasses two 9-hole facilities: the Academy course, which winds its way between the holes of the Championship Course, and the Resort course, located in the far side of the Hotel, both are opportunities to fine-tune one’s short game, while providing gentle training grounds for beginners.
The entire resort has gained recognition by adopting environmental management practices and is a member of the Audobon Co-operative Sanctuary System. These best practices include the promotion of the natural flora in the fairway surrounding areas as well as the minimal use of chemical substances in order to preserve the soils, water, wild species and natural resources in general.

Golf Courses Characteristics
SIR HENRY COTTON CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE
18 hole course, mostly plain and surrounded by mature and lush trees and bushes.
Course opened in 1966 and was totally refurbished in 1994/5.
Designed by Sir Henry Cotton.
Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course was the first golf course in the Algarve.
The course is characterised by an unusual grouping of par-5’s, with four of the five arranged together in pairs at the beginning and end of the back nine producing a par of 38 as opposed to 35 for the front nine.
Of the par-3’s, the most memorable is the 13th – voted one of the best 500 holes in the world! The hole presents its own, particular challenge. A lake borders the right-hand side, coming into play off the back tees, while the sloping green is guarded to the front and left by a pair of bunkers.
